AAI publishes updated Protected Disclosures Policy

The Protected Disclosures Act 2014 became operational on 15th July 2014. The Act is intended to provide a robust statutory framework within which workers can raise concerns regarding potential wrongdoing that has come to their attention in the workplace in the knowledge that they can avail of significant employment and other protections if they are penalised by their employer or suffer any detriment for doing so.

Under the legislation the Adoption Authority of Ireland is required to put in place –

           i.          A policy for ‘workers’ who come under the direct remit of the Authority

ii.          An external protected disclosure policy for workers/employers of other organisations in respect of matters that come within the remit of the Adoption Act.

The Adoption Authority recently approved its protected disclosures policy which is available to view here.

Set out here, are some frequently asked questions about protected disclosures and when a protected disclosure can be made to the Adoption Authority of Ireland.

If you require further information about making a protected disclosure to the Adoption Authority of Ireland, please contact the Head of Operations / Board Secretary.
